16 Apr 2009 - License Renewal Time 2009

Do not forget that it is that time of year again. If you have not picked up your new fishing license yet, it is time to do so. In Illinois, your previous year fishing license is good through the end of March. So you need to have your 2009 license when you are out fishing this month. You'll find a link under Resources off to the right for on-line licensing. There are links for licensing in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan.

My recommendation is that you buy your license on-line and print the license to a PDF file. Save the PDF file to your hard drive. Print several copies and put them in different places. I keep one in my leader wallet, one in my top vest pocket and one in my wallet. That way I have a copy on me if I am fly fishing, spin fishing or just stopping by a pond on my way into or home from work.

About SmallieFishing.com

I first set up this domain on in Mid-January 2008. My existing Sport Fishing web pages have been hosted for a few years on servers where I work. I have asked the people who contacted me after finding those web pages, how they came to visit that site. Most visitors found those pages using search engines. Phrases I was told that people searched for included "DuPage County", "teaching" and simply "Smallmouth Bass". Many visitors came to that site based on word of mouth. I was quite pleased to hear that, since it is not always easy to share a lengthy and awkward web address like the one for those pages.

That Sport Fishing website is on a server where I am allowed to post personal pages, but there are restrictions against any commercial offerings. I have set up this new web site, which has a name that is easier to share and for my visitors to remember. And on this site, I am allowed to promote my services.

What brings you here?

I am truely interested in what brings people to my web site. Did you come here with a specific question in mind? Are you just browsing for information on Smallmouth fishing? Are you seeking help with the local waters here in NorthEast Illinois? If you are looking for something in particular and can't find it here, please contact me and let me know how I can help you. I will use the feedback and your questions to enhance this site and make it more valuable to my visitors.

What's Coming Next

I hope to add some more pictures very soon. I want to add a guestbook so visitors can offer comments and suggestions for what would make this site more useful to them. I will be adding a Blog to share current information on events, news, local fishing, and other items of interest.

I hope to add articles including:

  • Product Reviews
  • Lessons Learned
  • Favorite Flies
  • the latest hot lure or fly pattern

I also plan to offer you links to other sites for services, products and even dealers that I can recommend to you based on my own personal experience. There is no need for another basic collection of links. I want to offer you links that include comments and even reviews based on my own experience.

Status of these pages

Let's be honest, this is not finished yet. But I wanted to put up these pages as a starting point. And I have been posting news items, almost like a Blog. Your patience is appreciated. Got ideas or suggestions? I would appreciate if you would send me an e-mail and shared your thoughts.

Please visit this site again soon. I intend to update these pages soon and post more items of interests to my fellow Smallmouth Fishing fans. In the mean time, you are welcome to visit my existing Sport Fishing web pages I invite you to visit that site to see other examples of my writing style including some reviews and recommendations I have written. You will also find some useful information there about fishing in North East Illinois.
